The Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462) is similar to the Working Holiday visa but is available for citizens of countries that have a reciprocal agreement with Australia. It allows young adults to travel and work in Australia for an extended period to fund their holiday.

1. First Work and Holiday Visa

This visa allows individuals between 18 and 30 years old to travel to Australia for an extended holiday and work to fund their trip.

  • Eligibility
    • Must hold a passport from an eligible country.
    • Aged 18–30 years.
    • Must apply from outside Australia.
    • Cannot be accompanied by dependent children.
    • Must not have previously held a subclass 462 or 417 visa.
    • If holding a passport from China, India, or Vietnam, must participate in a visa ballot and be randomly selected.
  • With this visa, you can
    • Work short-term to help fund your holiday.
    • Study for up to 4 months.
    • Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want.
    • Complete 3 months of specified subclass 462 work to qualify for a second Work and Holiday visa.
2. Second Work and Holiday Visa

This visa allows individuals who have held a subclass 462 visa to return for a second working holiday in Australia.

  • Eligibility
    • Must have previously held a subclass 462 visa.
    • Must be 18 to 30 years old.
    • Must have completed 3 months of specified subclass 462 work.
  • With this visa, you can
    • Continue working to fund your trip.
    • Study for up to 4 months.
    • Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want.
3. Third Work and Holiday Visa

This visa allows individuals who have already held two Work and Holiday visas to return for a third working holiday in Australia.

  • Eligibility
    • Must have previously held 2 subclass 462 visas.
    • Must be 18 to 30 years old.
    • Must have completed 6 months of specified work.
  • With this visa, you can
    • Work short-term in Australia.
    • Study for up to 4 months.
    • Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want.
