Overview
The Student Guardian visa allows a parent, custodian, or eligible relative to stay in Australia to care for and support a student visa holder.
Eligibility Requirements
- Relationship: Be the student’s parent, legal custodian, or a relative aged 21 or older.
- Financial Proof: Provide evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself and the student during your stay.
- Health Insurance: Hold adequate health insurance for the duration of your stay.
- Support Role: Be capable of providing accommodation, welfare, and other necessary support.
- Visa Status (if in Australia): Hold an eligible substantive visa at the time of application.
What You Can Do
- Care: Provide care and support for a student visa holder under 18 years of age (or over 18 in exceptional circumstances).
- Multiple Students: Support more than one student if required.
- Study:
- Study an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) for less than 20 hours per week.
- Undertake other courses or training for up to 3 months.
Restrictions
- You cannot work while holding this visa.
This visa is designed to ensure young student visa holders have adequate support while studying in Australia.
