Overview
The Student visa allows you to live in Australia while participating in an eligible course of study.
Eligibility Requirements
- Application: You can either be inside or outside Australia.
- Enrollment: You must be enrolled in an eligible course of study in Australia.
- Health Insurance: You must hold valid Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) or qualify for an exemption.
- Age Requirement: Be at least 6 years old.
- Welfare Arrangements: If you are under 18, you must prove appropriate welfare arrangements are in place.
- Visa Status (if in Australia): Hold an eligible substantive visa.
What You Can Do
- Study: Participate in an approved course of study in Australia.
- Travel: Enter and leave Australia as needed.
- Work:
- Work up to 48 hours per fortnight while your course is in session.
- Unlimited work hours are allowed for students pursuing a master’s by research or a doctoral degree, as well as their dependents.
- If you have a partner, they are also eligible to work. Their work hours depend on your selected course of study.
