Overview
This temporary visa allows parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to visit Australia for up to 3 or 5 years.
Eligibility Requirements
- Approved Sponsorship: You must have an approved Parent Sponsor before lodging your visa application.
- Application Process:
- The visa application must be lodged within 6 months of sponsorship approval or within 60 days if granted permission to apply in Australia.
What You Can Do
- Reunite with your children in Australia.
- Stay in Australia for up to 3 or 5 years per visa.
- Reapply for additional Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visas, allowing a cumulative stay of up to 10 years in Australia.
Restrictions:
- You cannot work in Australia while holding this visa.
Important Notes for the Sponsor
- You must apply online to become an approved Parent Sponsor before a visa application can be lodged.
- The visa application must be submitted within the specified timeframe (6 months or 60 days) after sponsorship approval.
Scope of Sponsorship
- Household Limit: Each household can have only one sponsorship active at a time, covering up to two parents per household.
- Who You Can Sponsor:
- One or both of your parents.
- One or both of your partner’s parents.
- One of your parents and one of your partner’s parents.
- You cannot submit a new sponsorship application until the current sponsorship ends.
